About the Department
The Wadhwani School of Data Science & AI
Established with a generous endowment from the Wadhwani Foundation, this is IITM's first school dedicated entirely to AI and data science. It draws from multiple parent departments — CS, Maths, EE — and aims to train researchers and practitioners who understand both the theory and application of AI.

Curriculum
What you'll actually study
The BTech in Data Science is not just applied Python. The curriculum is rigorous — probability theory, linear algebra, algorithms, statistics — with applications to real datasets and systems. You'll also get elective access to courses from CS, EE, and other departments.
