Shaastra is the annual technical festival of IIT Madras. Entirely student-managed, Shaastra was the first student-run technical festival in the world to receive the ISO 9001:2015 certification for implementing a Quality Management System. Over the years, it has grown into one of India’s largest and most reputed techno-managerial festivals, bringing together students, researchers, industry leaders and innovators from across the country and abroad.
The festival consists of a wide range of engineering, science and technology competitions, summits, lectures, exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops and interactive events. Every edition of Shaastra serves as a platform to showcase cutting-edge innovations and foster collaboration between academia and industry.
The competitions at Shaastra are known for attracting one of the highest numbers of outstation participants among technical festivals in India, with participation from institutions across the globe. Through its events and initiatives, Shaastra continues to receive recognition and appreciation from industry, academia and media alike.
Team Shaastra is headed by the Co-Curricular Affairs Secretary with the Shaastra Core Team. Hundreds of students work throughout the year across different departments to organise the five-day festival, making it one of the largest completely student-run events in the country.
